🔒 Privacy Policy

The short version

emoji.dance is a place to hang out, watch videos and listen to music together. We keep as little about you as we can: there are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell or share your information. Chat isn't saved anywhere.

What we keep, and why

• If you log in with Google: the ID Google gives your account and your email address, so you're the same person every time you log in (we never see your password), plus the name, emoji look and playlists you choose, so they follow you to any device.
• If you don't log in: a random ID, kept in a cookie, so the site remembers you between visits, with the name and look you pick. Your playlists stay in your browser.
• In a room: what's happening there (who's in it, the DJ queue, what's playing) while it's open. Chat messages go straight to the people in the room and are never stored.
• To keep the site running: your IP address, which we use to stop spam and abuse, and which shows up in our server logs.
• If you contact us: whatever you send through our help page, so we can answer you.

Cookies and storage

We only use the cookies it takes to keep you logged in, or to remember you as a guest, and your browser's own storage for your settings and playlists. No advertising or tracking cookies.

Other services

• Videos and songs play in their own sites' players (YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion and SoundCloud), which have their own privacy policies and may set their own cookies. YouTube's is the Google Privacy Policy.
• Logging in with Google is also covered by Google's privacy policy. Our use of information we receive from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
• Cloudflare delivers this site to you.

How long we keep it

A guest, and the rooms they made, are forgotten after 14 days without a visit, and any room after 30 days without anyone in it. Accounts are kept until you ask us to delete them. Server logs are kept only as long as we need them to run and protect the site.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete what we have about you at any time through our help page. Deleting your account removes your name, look, playlists and Google ID and email. Clearing your browser's storage removes what's kept there.

Children

emoji.dance isn't meant for children under 13. If we learn we have information from a child under 13, we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
